Dynamic Orthodox Christian Education

Welcome to
St. Philip Orthodox
Christian School

We are excited to announce the start of our faith-based micro-school, a robust blend between homeschool and private schooling.

Our Mission

Ancient. Mystical. Beautiful. Alive

We are excited to announce the start of the St. Philip Orthodox Christian School. Our mission is to bring like-minded families together for the purpose of building a strong Orthodox Christian life and community that extends beyond Sundays and into every facet of our lives. Our micro-school provides supplemental education to our little ones – from Pre-kindergarten to 8th grade – using Christian curriculum from Abeka Academy.

About Us

Who We Are?

Beauty

The mind and soul of each child is formed through an encounter with Beauty and beautiful things as the foundation of their recognition of Goodness and Truth.

Truth

Knowing and being able to recognize Truth allows the mind to be brought into accord with what is real. The building blocks of learning are set when we teach our students to devote themselves to upholding God’s standard of truth.

Goodness

St. Philip Orthodox Christian School students will understand that there are many views of what is “good” in the world and the degree to which something is better or worse depends on whether it guides them closer to God in His love or farther from Him in our sin.

A Message From Our Priest, Fr. Alex

The Very Rev. Fr. Alexis Kouri

The Very Rev. Fr. Alexis Kouri is a graduate of Boston College (B.S.), Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology (M.Div.), and Emory University (Th.D. in Pastoral Counseling). With an impressive tenure of thirty-five years serving as a parish priest, Fr. Alexis has devoted his life to bringing the depth of worship and the teachings of the Orthodox faith into the hearts of his congregation.

Fr. Alexis has a special affinity for Byzantine Music, which resonates through his liturgical services, and he finds great joy in offering children’s sermons, where he instills the faith’s principles in the youngest members of the church community.

Holy Tradition

Students start their day off with morning prayer inside the church. Our school calendar follows the liturgical calendar, with Feast days, Christmas and Pascha as our days off. Children’s saints days are also celebrated and Fr. Alex teaches theology for all groups.

In-Person Learning

The formal classrooms in our Orthodox Christian micro-school provide students with hands-on teacher guidance, while fostering a strong sense of togetherness through a combination of learning methods. School doors are locked and secured at all times in our dedication to the safety of our students.
